The water filtration projects was an introduction to the scientific method, it also incorporated rational thinking problem solving, critical thinking and ethics in a student environment. The overall objective of the filter project in general was to involve and inform Chief Dull Knife College science interns of a real world issue of contaminated water that plaques many third world countries. The goal was to develop an economically and inexpensive sound water filtration system to bring the quality of water to meet Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.) standards to assure quality and safety, and the means for the communities of sub-Sahara Africa to develop their own water filters using their own local resources and knowledge to enhance their quality of life.
